Nancy Nogood (she/her) will be Emcee’ing our evening. She is a drag artist/playwright called “GLAMOROUS!” by the New York Times. In 2020, Nancy was commissioned by Michigan Stage to write her drag play for youth, “Looking Back Through Stained Glass,” a semi-autobiographical journey of finding community and acceptance in the face of adversity. When not in a wig, Nancy goes by Philip and works on the education team of PFLAG NYC, combining a passion for helping LGBTQ+ folks and a love of working with young people.

Catie Curtis (she/her), an award-winning singer/songwriter, will perform live. Catie’s list of accomplishments spans 14 albums, songs featured on TV shows Grey’s Anatomy, Dawson’s Creek, and Felicity, and movies like Finding Graceland and A Slipping Down Life. For over 25 years, Catie toured the USA and Europe as a popular headliner, appearing at Lilith Fair, Carnegie Hall, concert halls, folk clubs, and music festivals. She performed several times at the White House during the Obama administration and was dubbed a “folk rock goddess” by The New Yorker.

Check out Catie's top hits, like Radical and the 2002 Song of the Year on an Indie Label at the Boston Music Awards, Kiss that Counted.

The Cornerstone of Equality 2024 Award winner is Chris Mosier (he/him). Chris Mosier is a trailblazing athlete, activist, and founder of TransAthlete.com. In 2020 he made history by becoming the first transgender athlete to compete in the Olympic Trials in the gender with which they identify. Before that, in 2015 he became the first openly trans man to make a Men's US National Team. He was instrumental in getting the International Olympic Committee policy on transgender athletes changed, and was the first trans athlete to compete in a world championship race under the new rules. He has been called "the man who changed the Olympics" by the BBC and New York Magazine. Chris is an eight-time member of Team USA, a four-time Men's National Champion, and a Men's All-American.

Chris is also an inductee into the National Gay and Lesbian Sports Hall of Fame. He is sponsored by Nike and has been featured in multiple global Nike campaigns.

Chris's website transathlete.com is the go-to source for information about transgender athletes in sport. Chris has written and advocated for change in policies from the high school level to national governing bodies and professional leagues. He has become one of the leading grassroots organizers against the current wave of anti-trans legislation across the United States. When not fighting the good fight, he mentors transgender and non-binary athletes around the world in hopes that he can live by his motto of "be who you needed when you were younger.

About PFLAG Greater Boston

Greater Boston PFLAG is proud to be part of the legacy that Jeanne Manford started by supporting her gay son in New York City in 1973.  Jeanne wrote a letter to the editor, which evolved into a support group and then spiraled into a national movement.  Allies, parents/caregivers, and families are at the heart of our mission and they work tirelessly to support, educate, and advocate for LGBTQ+ people and their families.

Greater Boston PFLAG’s first support group convened in Cambridge in 1978 by a bold group of parents who believed their LGBT children deserved to be safe, included in all community spaces, and have the same rights as any other child.

Today, decades later, we continue the work of Jeanne and so many countless other volunteers and gather annually to celebrate our collective commitment to creating a safe and inclusive world at Pride & Passion.  Pride & Passion is our annual fundraiser that allows us to honor exceptional allies and/or LGBTQ+ individuals with the Cornerstone of Equality Award, who embody the spirit of Jeanne and uses their voice to make the world a better place for LGBTQ+ individuals in Massachusetts and beyond.
